Home to a population of around 10 thousand people, Whitchurch is a very friendly, creative and sociable community with a history going back to the Roman fort sited on Watling Street, at the top of the High Street. When the settlement was called Mediolanum. The development of the town can be followed on the History Trail

There are many sports clubs, associations and voluntary groups such as Blackberry Fair and the Beacon Church for all ages to get involved. The Whitchurch Walkers group are very active with an annual walking festival. Whitchurch is on the Sandstone Trail and Bishop Bennet Way for those who like a longer challenge.

Whitchurch is the most northerly town in Shropshire and the oldest, set within the glorious county of Shropshire on the border of North Wales and Cheshire. This market town has a wonderful sense of time and place. The canal runs alongside Whitchurch and has holiday makers walking locally to experience the diverse shopping and food establishments. 

It is a fantastic area to visit with a plethora of independent shops, offering an array of items such as gifts, antiques, homewares and clothing. There is also a market every Friday in the Civic building.

Visitors to Whitchurch will find the surrounding areas have lots of interesting places for day trips, including the Folllies at Hawkstone Park, and Chester which has a renowned conservation zoo. Llangollen Shrewsbury and Whittington are all within a 30 minute drive from Whitchurch and offers castles, drama, animals and views to experience.

Wonderful wedding and large event venues locally include : Alderford Lake, Bolesworth Castle. Combermere Abbey, Grange Barn, Iscoyd Park, Macdonald Hill Valley, Maypole Tipi and Wrenbury Hall.

Fancy something different ? Skydive Tilstock Freefall Club, is minutes from Whitchurch offering training for solo and tandem dives. Bangor on Dee Racecourse and the BeWILDerwood experience are both on the doorstep.
